Say no to FEAR of public speaking

08/26/2022

Actually, it is natural to fear speaking in public, but we can transform this fear into excitement rather than panic.

There are several methods of coping: breathing exercises, thinking about loved ones, visualising a successful outcome, etc. But, undoubtedly, the biggest trap is our unique ego. Most of us think a presentation is mainly about us - we forget all about our listeners, for whom we're giving the presentation in the first place. We think: What if I make a mistake? What if I mess up the facts? What if I don't remember? What if they laugh at me? Everything is about us.

But what if we start to think about our audience? What do they know? What do they need to know? Actually, who are they? How can I help them? These questions can change our focus from us to our listeners and the content. You are not on the stage because of you; you are on the stage because you have something to share with the audience.

Goodwill and a helpful attitude can help you to connect to your public and forget about your fears as they lose importance. It is not the 'challenge of public speaking' anymore, but the opportunity to support others and activate changes in their thinking.
